Many
people, when they start a blog, start it with an idea to eventually
make extra money blogging. A simple way to boost blogging for money
formula, is to add Google Adsense to your blog. Surely, this is not
going to make you a millionaire, but you can definitely make extra money
with Google Adsense and that feat alone may be an excellent incentive
to keep plugging along.
What Is Google Adsense
Wikipedia defines Google Adsense as:
Google AdSense is a program run by Google Inc. that
allows publishers in the Google Network of content sites to serve
automatic text, image, video, or interactive media adverts that are
targeted to site content and audience
According to Google:
Google AdSense is a free, simple way for website
publishers of all sizes to earn money by displaying targeted Google ads
on their websites. AdSense also lets you provide Google search to your
site users, while earning money by displaying Google ads on the search
results pages support.google.com

How To Get Google Adsense Started On Your Money Blog
Getting
a Google Adsene account is free. To sign up for it, simply visit the
following link and fill out the application:
https://www.google.com/adsense/signup.
Before you apply to get your Adsense account make sure that you have a
site with unique, well written, value content on it and that you are
receiving some targeted traffic already. In some countries, the site may
have to be in existence for at least 6 months. This policy was
implemented by Google to protect its advertisers.
Google is quite strict when it comes to approving new Adsense
accounts. There are couple of crucial steps you will need to follow to
ensure that your application is processed favorably.
1. Create a well designed and value information site.
Google wants your site to be a valuable resource for the readers. The
general consensus among internet marketers is that you should have at
least 10 original and well written articles on your money blog before you apply.
2. Have Privacy Policy, About page and a Contact page set up
and displayed (usually on your navigation bar). For the Privacy policy
you will need to follow certain guidelines. You may check my privacy
policy. You can generate this policy using the free Privacy Policy
generator here. I used it to create my Privacy Policy.
Once you will get approved you will receive your approval and your
account information via email. At first, your account will only be
temporary. This is to ensure that you will follow the guidelines and not
do something ridiculous as clicking on the ads on your site, flood your
site with Adsense ads, buying clicks on Fiverr or anything else that
looks suspicious to Google.
As soon as your site is approved, you can place adsense ads on other
sites that you own as well. You do not have to apply for each site
separately. After a few weeks, if you do not commit any “suspicious
activities” in the eyes of Google, you will get verified and you will be
permanently (unless you screw up) approved. You will be able to make
extra money blogging with Google Adsense, from all your sites for as
long as you keep in line with Google terms.
How Does One Make Extra Money Blogging With Adsense
After you get approved, you will have to create the ad units you want
to place on your money blog. You will need to sign in to your Adsense
account using the link you received in your email. Enter the “My Ads”
tab in your dashboard, click on “New Content” and then click on “New ad

Upon completing the set up of the ad units you will receive a code
from Google. You can place this code anywhere on your site. You can
place the codes directly into the posts or pages, in the sidebar, under
the header, in the header and so on.
You can place the ad units manually on your site or you can choose
from a variety of adsense plugins that will place the units on your site
automatically in the manner you specify. The one adsense plugin I used
in the past was the Easy Adsense WordPress plugin.
I used the free, lite version and it worked very well for me. If you
want to have a plugin to control the placement of ads, I recommend it
(The Lite free version is all I used and it is sufficient).
How Blogging Spree Blog Is Monetized With Adsense
A few days ago I monetized Blogging Spree blog with Google Adsense. I
placed the ads manually in 3 spots . As at this point I want the ads to
appear across the board on most of my pages and posts. I have added a
set of links under the header and also I have added a banner ad in the
sidebar.
To add Google Adsense to your sidebar use a text widget in your
widget’s dashboard and add the code directly into the text widget (you can read more about adding text widgets here…)
What I love about Google Adsense is that the types of displayed ads
adjust to the topic of the post or a page on the blog unlike the static
ads we place in, for example sidebars, of our sites . Below I am going
to show the example of how it works and how the ads displayed correlate
to the topic of the posts. I’ll show you 2 examples of posts with
completely different topics:

Notice
that the Adsense ads were place under the header advertisement as a
link unit and in the side bar as an image unit. Both the, the link unit
(hard to see in the image) and the image in the sidebar were adjusted to
the message of the post.
The correlation or the relatedness of the image to the post was quite
significant. You can see the example of the image on the right, I
copied the image from the ad. Clearly, the blog post talks about blog
security and I guess Network Security was as close as Google could come
up with related content. And, that is pretty darn good.
2. The other example is from a completely different topic post, namely “How To Start Bogging…”

Notice the ad in the sidebar. It is quite a bit different than the
one related to security discussed above. You can very clearly see that
this particular ad offers the reader a possibility to create free
websites. To tell you the truth, I spotted these images on other
websites and I believe I even clicked on some of them before. Obviously,
the ads work.
Just before I will conclude the post I wanted to mention that when
you are setting these ads on your site for the first time you may want
to go crazy placing them all over the site, labeling them with enticing
phrases, etc.
Don’t do this!
Always remember, that Google distributes the ads on behalf of many
marketers just like you and I. Make sure to treat the ads the same way
you would want someone else treat your ads on their website.
